Follow-up Comment #61, bug #50463 (project octave):
Rik, I think you are right: It might be best to just check for the presence of
the header and, if it found, assume that the library exists as well. A quick
google search revealed that other projects do the same.
I am attaching a patch that lets me successfully cross-build for the win32
target with MXE Octave again. But maybe someone you knows the build system
better than me should check that it is correct.
