Follow-up Comment #26, bug #52193 (project octave):

I don't have time to work on this just now, but I think the merging algorithm
can be improved to handle this.  It relies  on gl2ps putting out the vertices
in a very specific order, but relaxing that condition is probably enough to
make this work.
