Follow-up Comment #7, bug #53390 (project octave): It is confirmed that [L,U]=lu(A) or [L,U,P]=lu(A) does not use UMFPACK and UMFPACK cannot work without a minimal column ordering. We have to implement the algorithm from scratch.
