Follow-up Comment #8, bug #53422 (project octave): Í just finished some polygon clipping stuff for the geometry (and thus mapping) package so I'll take up fixing the Point / Multipoint geometries now. Processing a few more contributions, fixing shaperead's clipping, and then a new mapping package release can be made. Hopefully I have time this coming Easter weekend. BTW to me ArcView is a bit more authoritative than QGIS - after all it is ESRI who invented the shapefile format.
