Follow-up Comment #4, bug #53443 (project octave): I pushed your changeset to the stable branch here (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/8c38361718a9). If I could make one more request, is it possible to get this to work when the Variable Editor window is not displayed? When the V.E. window or dock widget is not displayed then 'openvar' will cause it to appear, but the focus isn't shifted.
