How do I get the exact octave version?
OS

 3.13.0-141-lowlatency #190+7.0trisquel2


It appears I can upgrade the OS to 8.0 should I do this and see if it fixes
the issue?

Ctrl+a gives just an a.
None of those control sequences work they just give the letter.
Ctrl+v does paste and Ctrl+c does exit the command. 


~/Desktop$ qmake --version
QMake version 2.01a
Using Qt version 4.8.6 in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

There is no difference if I use sudo.
