Follow-up Comment #2, bug #53840 (project octave):
IIRC in bug #49167 the position property also had ridiculously large values. I
couldn't track down the exact cause of the issue. But thought that it was
caused "possibly in or around axes::properties::sync_positions".
Maybe the issue here is related.
