URL: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?53918> Summary: Incorrect abbreviation for Coordinated Universal Time Project: GNU Octave Submitted by: ianmcc Submitted on: Tue 15 May 2018 08:30:19 PM UTC Category: Documentation Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Documentation Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: 4.4.0 Operating System: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: Section 36.1 of the Octave manual abbreviates Coordinated Universal Time to CUT. The correct abbreviation is UTC, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time which says: The official abbreviation for Coordinated Universal Time is UTC. This abbreviation arose from a desire by the International Telecommunication Union and the International Astronomical Union to use the same abbreviation in all languages. English speakers originally proposed CUT (for "coordinated universal time"), while French speakers proposed TUC (for "temps universel coordonné"). _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?53918> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
