Follow-up Comment #2, bug #53712 (project octave):

I suggest to use a QMdiArea (http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qmdiarea.html) which allows
to arrange sub windows tabbed or in arbitrary form within the main window. In
contrast to dock widgets, the sub windows can not be made floatable. Even when
we decide on using dock widgets, I would like to vote against making them
floatable.
