@Torsten: The only thing I can think of to try is disabling that work-around
for Qt bug

I'm attaching a diff file that effectively disables the work-around.  Could
you please apply that and see if it makes things better on Ubuntu Unity?

I don't see why this should have an influence, but it's worth a try from an
investigative standpoint.
