Is this with the original abs.diff or the update that I posted in comment
#103? I downloaded Rik's tarball, unpacked it, and applied the update to
abs.diff and it applies cleanly for me.

May depend on your shell and your 'which' implementation. If you really want
to know if it worked, try 'id --version'. That's usually something that only
works with the GNU variants of common shell utilities.
