Follow-up Comment #3, bug #54324 (project octave): I'm all in favor of reducing cruft. How far should we go? Remove the feature check and substitution and fail at build time if bison isn't recent enough? Keep the check and only accept bison if a suitably recent version is found, issuing a warning if an older bison is found?
