After activating the option optimset('Display', 'iter'), to visualize the
intermediate steps of fminsearch, if the objective function is negative, the
iteration step value f is shown as positive. See example
 [p, objf, cvg, outp] = fminsearch (@(x) -1+x^2, 3, optimset('Display',
'iter') )
