Thanks for replying!
Yes, the context menu "blips" on the screen, just enough to note its shape,
and is then closed. Invoking this several times finally stabilises the window.
And the condition seems to be everywhere in the interface - if you select some
text in the editor, and right click to say copy it, this chaotic behaviour
occurs.
The file being updated is in the installation directory, on C: - specifically,
in the "testfun" folder.
