Follow-up Comment #5, bug #48733 (project octave):
I think what you are seeing is different from the original issue.
It looks like Octave is interpreting the file as if it where encoded in
latin-1 while it is really UTF-8.
What do you see for the following?
__mfile_encoding__
__mfile_encoding__ ("utf-8")
clear all
test_function
