I checked in a fix here
(https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/57bb8f531707).  This is on the
development branch of Octave and will be part of the 6.1 release.  Of course,
since this is just a change to an m-file you can download ginput.m from the
Mercurial repository and replace your local copy if you want to see the fix
earlier.
