Follow-up Comment #22, bug #47480 (project octave): Now that bug #55429 has been fixed the io package can eliminate / replace the __octave_config_info__ JAVA check. That is, for io to work with Octave-6.0.0+. For older Octave versions io still has to rely on the __octave_config_info__ stuff. So different code paths are required for Octave-6.x.x and newer, and Octave-5.x.x and older.
