Follow-up Comment #13, bug #57146 (project octave):

Changeset http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/f18e48749a7a makes using
F9 more robust in cases where the executed code results in an error.

Unfortunately, I have found no possibility to prevent the two newlines after
executing the selected code.
