the latest git code 
rev dbf46228a7582eef4fe5470fd00bc5b421dd33a5
fails to build on cygwin
as the compiler expects in "error" a format string before 
the argument and it does not find it

$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 7.4.0

attached patch to make all changes 

geomBoundary.cpp:      error (exc.what ());

geomBoundary.cpp:      error ("%s",exc.what ());
