Do they not also require setting the MKL_THREADING_LAYER environment variable
to get the correct results?

I have verified that scilab produces the correct result without setting the
environment variable, using the code in this script by Norbert.

I copied the lines containing scilab code and ran it separately to ensure that
the environment variable was not set before running scilab.
