Follow-up Comment #28, bug #59238 (project octave):

I verified the patch doesn't produce an regressions on Linux.  I don't have a
Windows box that I can test on to see if it actually resolves the errors.  I
agree with you that this should go on stable.  It seems bad that Octave can't
save and load it's own variables.
