Follow-up Comment #21, bug #59451 (project octave):
Ah, I think the attached change is fairly simple and solves the problem.
Markus: This change is similar to the one you showed in comment #20 but I
think the logic is a bit easier to follow than the one complex conditional in
the IF statement.
