Follow-up Comment #2, bug #58292 (project octave):
I can confirm the issue with both gnuplot's qt and wxt backends on linux.
"grid on" correctly turns the grid on but "grid minor on" has no effect at
all.
Out of curiosity, why do you prefer using the gnuplot toolkit? There is
currently not much effort put in this toolkit and your best bet is to use the
actively developed qt toolkit.
