Follow-up Comment #21, bug #62282 (project octave):

For the topic we are on, I think  \ is a folder separator for window OS, not a
part of an escape sequence.  A folder address of ....\...\..\ is given on
window.  If the syntax interpreter must follow a different rule which is not
compatible with the OS, it is more likely the the interpreter needs to be
modified or just declare the incompatibility.  

I did another test.  The behavior is below.   Thanks for looking into this.
