Follow-up Comment #8, bug #62847 (project octave):

Did the release candidate (6.1.90) still work?
If it did, this change might be a candidate (though I don't understand why it
would break your use case...):

Did you `cd` to the folder on the mapped drive Q: that contains `opt_lvm.m`,
and `which` still returned the UNC path?
Was that folder also in the load path (maybe using the UNC path)?

I understand you redacted some of the names. Does `canonicalize_file_name
('Q:\full\path\to\opt_lvm.m')` return the full path (without "eating" part of
it)?
