That doesn't seem to make a difference:

octave:1> z = acosh (10i);
octave:2> printf ("Octave acosh(10i)  = %.16f + %.16fi\n", real (z), imag
Octave acosh(10i)  = 2.9982229502979698 + 1.5707963267948966i
octave:3> z = acosh (-10i);
octave:4> printf ("Octave acosh(-10i) = %.16f + %.16fi\n", real (z), imag
Octave acosh(-10i) = 2.9982229502979760 + -1.5707963267948966i
