But I have a remark: in the output of the 'path' command I see the UNC path
(that's also the case with 7.1.0). But in 6.4.0 and before the drive letter
path was mentioned, and I find that much more practical and reliable than
working with UNC paths.
Another motive is that Matlab (at least r2014a, we still use that for its 'old
style' graphics; and IIRC r2018b as well) also echoes drive letter paths, not
UNC paths.
After all we're working with drive letters all the time, not UNC paths (that
can change unpredictably when ICT staff seems to be in the mood for it). We
regularly copy full pathnames using the 'path' command output.

Can this behavior be restored? I'm willing to enter a separate feature request
for this.
