Follow-up Comment #9, bug #49143 (project octave):

I am not an expert in this area but I tried:

orientation = inputdlg({'axis x' ,'axis y','axis z'},'cosine directors',[
1],{'0','-sind(180)','cosd(180)'});

and it worked, no errors.
