NDArray for fftshift (with patch)

I'm trying to convert fftshift for NDArrays. It seems that matlab allows
indexing of matrices using cell arrays which simplifies this task for
matlab. I've managed to get something that works for "fftshift" but it
has to create a string and then evaluate this string to get the result.

I wondered if anyone else had any ideas if there are better ways to deal
with this? I attach a against 2.1.57 for discussion
