The executables generated by MSVC are linked against MSVCR80.DLL,
which unfortunately is not a system component anymore. So the user has
to install the "Visual C++ Redistributable Package" from Microsoft. The
installer checks for the DLL and, if it doesn't find it, warns the user and exits.
 
Besides those DLL's (the package contains actually 3 DLL's), MSVC is
not needed, except to compile .oct files.
