I don't like this idea,
I forgot to mention: I agree with Jordi on this.  For Linux, these are all available
as packages.  Using the "standard" packages seems much less error-prone.
If the listed dependencies were included there would be issues of conflict
between an already installed package and the "Octave version" and so on...
