I'm not sure what is best for that.  Do you have any suggestions?
What change are you using for Debian?

I'd like to remind you that if you find the need to patch Octave for
Debian, it is probably best to at least discuss the changes with us.
We might have other ideas that could help you or we could incorporate
your changes so that you don't have to maintain separate patches.
Ideally, I'd like to see distributions building Octave without the
need for special patches.
