We do have a page for that on the Octave wiki:

it would be better to direct students there and help us improve that page
if the information there is incomplete rather than create a separate duplicate
page.

Similar issues have recently been discussed on Octave's mailing lists [1], here
too
I believe directing students to one place where they can get answers and direct
help from experienced Octave users and developers would be the best choice.
