Thanks!  I notice that a NEWS item was added in:

        http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/ea2788117ee3

However, the NEWS entry incorrectly states that erfinv and erfcinv 
accept complex inputs.   Only erf, erfc, erfcx, erfi, and dawson accept 
complex inputs, *not* the inverse error functions erfinv and erfcinv.
