Follow-up Comment #8, patch #7949 (project octave):

Bingo!

Sorry to answer so late, was on a hurry to recover data from a failing
machine.

Build the whole package without patches. Running latest version from
repository. The good part is that there is no more lockups, everything seems
to be running 'fine', except for some weird messages on "Command Window" when
I try to read/open files, like:

'Global::locale(): Warning your global KLocale is being recreated with a valid
main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to
call i18n related functions before your main component was created. You should
not do that since it most likely will not work
"/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/drives/Generic_USB_SM_Reader_058F312D81B" : property
"Drive" does not exist'

They all are related to kde environment and are redirected to console (stderr)
what happens to be the octave virtual terminal. Would be good to get rid of
them, though.

The files open properly. Debugging and all functionalities seems to be working
properly too.

May I suggest to add a right click option to "Command Window" (and inside it)
to clear the mess, instead of just by Edit->Clear? (same for "Command History"
and "Workspace")

Loving to work on graphical environment. Many thanks to all.
