I'm glad the new textscan seems to be working :)

To make a stand-alone version will take a fair bit of rewriting.  It currently
relies on seek/tell, which don't work without patching the core.  I'll put on
my to-do list to rewrite it to do its own buffering.  Ideally that should make
it faster too, since getc() is currently a major consumer of time.
