Follow-up Comment #8, patch #8943 (project octave):

I edited the commit message, added an entry for the NEWS file, fixed a typo in
@qcode and made a few other style changes.  My updated version of the patch is
attached.

I was ready to push the change but when I try "demo light" Octave stops
responding after showing a figure window with an empty axes object.
