Follow-up Comment #3, patch #10283 (project octave):
IIUC, their "classic" figures are implemented using Java. Their new uifigures
are based on "web technologies". (I guess that is HTML5, CSS and Co.)
When opening a plain "classic" figure, Matlab shows the controls and menu bar
for plots by default. The new `uifigure` is completely blank by default.
IIUC, the new `uifigure`s are meant for developing GUIs and Apps. The
"classic" figures are meant for plotting...
