+Goals: Get more FSF visibility in mainstream press by building relationships
with journalists.

+Objectives:

+* At least 2 quotes per month in mainstream press (e.g. NY Times) representing
FSF
+* "Generate" 1 article per month about FSF issue, linked to campaign.
+* Get TV or radio coverage (Greater Boston / NPR) once every 3 months.
+* Quotes are on-message, and articles don't use "opensource" or "linux"
+* Put everyone who has written on an FSF issue for a major daily (or radio) in
the past 6 months on our press list. Process is documented and handed off to
intern / volunteer.
+* Increase incoming press calls on issues related to our work.
+* Keep diary of actions, contacts.

the past 6 months on our press list.

+* Look for news in major English dailies and NPR about our issues. (Sign up
for google news alerts for our keywords, possibly limited to some large dailies)
+* Use volunteer news team for this if possible.
+* Call reporters after important articles on our issues to follow up, offer
useful comment for next article.
+* When we know coverage about something is coming (either because articles
will stick around in the news cycle, or because we see news coming) call
institutions, find out who's writing about it, and reach out to them with
comment.
+* Send reporters useful information nuggets whenever possible, become one of
the experts they look to for info, clues.
+* Issues to focus on: smartphones, app store bans, Google Book search
settlement, Bilski and software patents, Digital Restrictions Management, War
on sharing, new P2P bill or any upcoming legislation, ebooks ebooks ebooks,
online video space and html5.

+Timeline (Ongoing):

+* 2 or 3 hours per week.
+* 2 days setup time
+* 2 weeks ramp up (give me two weeks before we start counting against
objectives metrics).
