+##Send this to folks after they've said they would like to help
+
+A couple of things about tabling with the Free Software Foundation:
+
+* Thanks! You rock! We really appreciate your help!
+
+* We always say “free software” and never substitute the phrase “open source”
as the latter is the name adopted by people who reject the philosophy of the
Free software Movement. For a full explanation of the importance of
nomenclature in this instance, please, read
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html
+
+* We always say “GNU/Linux” rather than just “Linux” except when we are
referring to the kernel. We do this to give the system' principal developer due
credit and because GNU carries the philosophy of freedom for computer users -
rejected by the Linux developers. (cf.http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html)
+
+* We don't recommend any distribution which is not 100% free, including Ubuntu
which distributes proprietary software to its users. We do recommend gNewSense
to people as a user-friendly, completely free operating system.
+
+* Visitors often ask about the GPL, and while we appreciate our
volunteers'efforts to satisfy their curiosity, we recommend against trying to
interpret the license as this often leads to problems.
+
+* If someone supports free software, let them know that they can support our
work through membership, lots of people don't even know we have a membership
program!
+ ($120 per year/$60 for students, payable by monthly $10 or $5 payments)
+
+Naturally, familiarity with the information on our website, particularly the
philosophy and campaigns pages at http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/philosophy.html
and http://www.fsf.org/campaigns/ will help you do a great job of representing
the FSF.

+##Instructions to email or to put in the box
+
+### Tabling Instructions
+
+#### Signing people up as members:
+* When signing someone up to become a member, have them fill out a blue
membership card and urge them to print clearly – especially their e-mail
address. If we cannot contact them, we will not be able to process the
donation.
+* Associate Memberships are $120, student memberships are $60. If someone
wants to join at a higher level or just make a small one-time donation, that is
also fine :-)
+* Members can choose to have their card charged once for the full sum, or in
monthly installments of $10 or $5.
+* New members receive either an FSF USB Privacy Key or Richard Stallman's
book, “Free Software, Free Society.” Occasionally, someone will want a T-shirt
instead. It is fine to give them one. Some people wish to maximize their
donation by opting for no gift. Just make a note of their choice ('book',
'key', 'no gift').
+* Make a distinction between books/keys that are sold and books/keys that are
given as membership welcome gifts.
+
+#### Using the credit card machine:
+* Make sure the manual lever is pushed all the way to the left.
+* Place the credit card face up in the nook allotted to it on the contraption
(right above where it says "61200145993 FREE SOFTWARE FOUNDATION” etc.).
+* Place sales slip over it in the area of allotted for it.
+* Slide the manual lever to the right, going over the credit card and the
sales slip.
+The credit card name and number should be impressed upon the slip, if it's not
for some reason then just write it in.
+
+#### For membership:
+* Note at which level they are joining: associate ($120) or student ($60).
+* Note which gift they chose ('book', 'key', or 'no gift') and whether we need
to mail it to them ('send book', 'send key'). The latter is rarely the case.
+* If the person wants their membership payments made in monthly installments
rather than in one lump sum, write on the slip in large clear letters either
“$10 a month” or “$5 a month.”
+Place the completed and legibly filled out membership card inbetween the parts
of the signed credit card slip and give the new member the carbon slip and file
in pouch.
+* Make sure to let people know that there will be up to a week's delay in
processing the membership since the materials will still need to be mailed back
to us.
+
+#### For sales:
+* Fill in the credit card slip, noting all of the items purchased, amounts, if
a member discount of 20% was applied, extra donations, etc.
+* Make sure the person provides contact information, either phone, email, or
both.
+* Make sure the person signs the slip.
+* File the slip in the pouch.
+
+#### Double-check for these common omissions:
+* the phone number and e-mail to contact the person if their credit card is
declined
+* the credit card type and expiration date which are necessary during
processing
+* the size of the T-shirt if the person needs their shirt to be shipped
+
+#### Don't forget to pack up:
+* Pouch of cash, sales receipts and completed membership cards
+* Extra stickers, membership cards, buttons and bulletins
+* Credit card machine
+* Banner
+
+#### Miscellaneous:
+Please, have only one of each of the smaller items (keys, pins, etc.) on
display at a time a they are as small and people tend to walk off with them.
You'll probably want to have the key chain and USB key each on a string
(included) to keep them from “walking away.”
+
+================
+
+**Thank you very much for giving us your week-end and being the face of the
FSF!**<br>
+We are very grateful.<br>
+Sincerely,<br>
+
+The Free Software Foundation Team
