Sorry .. forgot to add .. 

for the ebuild to work correctly you need to do the following.

if you have the CVS tree: 

run ./bootstrap in OpenEXR directory then cd ..
mv OpenEXR OpenEXR-1.0.7
tar -zcvf OpenEXR-1.0.7.tar.gz
mv OpenEXR-1.0.7.tar.gz /usr/portage/distfiles

if not grab the OpenEXR-1.0.7 from 
http://www.geekware.co.za/openexr/OpenEXR.1.0.7.tar.gz (busy uploading now ... 
give a few .. it's slow ;P) 

move ebuild file to your $PORTAGE_OVERLAY/media-libs/openexr directory
run ebuild $PATH_TO_OVERLAY/media-libs/openexr digest
