+1 for "exr"
for workflow-specific files it's easy to use a sort of dot notation that will
enable all kinds of specific naming schemes without diluting the exr suffix.
E.g. img_000023.deeperthantherest.exr
- this is enough to filter using searches and command lines, even file open
boxes, and only get and affect *.deeperthantherest.exr
