When you changed the number of connections to 1, did you uncheck the
box
to reserve a connection? If you left it checked, some actions like
downloading bodies/binaries might clog up the queue so that other things
(like new headers) never get run. Also, the "stay connected" activity
might get in the way. If your server limits you to one connection (check
the log, most of them are quite vocal about this) then you should *not*
reserve a connection for certain activities.
