Mine is gtkspell-2.0.2-1.i386.rpm, file size 24747 bytes.

I can't find any RPM'a at sourceforge.net, only tar.gz source.
(Maybe I don't know where to look?)

I got the same result, with the following exceptions:

Build Date: Sun 01 Sep 2002 21:23:48 CEST
Install date: (of course)
Size        : 52119

Note that this is also identical:

That URL belongs to PLD Linux.  Are you sure you didn't use their
686 RPM?  (I used their 386 RPM, since I've got a K6-III CPU.)

I also rebooted and started Pan under Gnome (Sawfish), but still
no spellcheck.

BTW, I haven't installed Gnome 2.
