It works for me on a newly installed SUSE 9.1 (32bit), so in case it is
a bug with my packaging, that bug does not look trivial.
Stupid question: What filesystem are you using?
Since my $HOME is located on a NFS share and I did not yet try with a
local home, this can easily be the difference that matters.
