I'm about the same level as Duncan, maybe with a different mix of skills.
I've found that the biggest obstacle to fixing pan is learning gtk+ first.
Now, however, I'm learning gtk2-perl and finding the gtk interface much
easier to grasp because it's so much simpler than the real gtk+. I'm
hoping that getting a feel for gtk via perl will make it much easier for
me to fix the real gtk code in pan. We'll see :o)
