Interestingly I don't experience the issue with the glade 2.12.19 version 
of gtk for windows. 

I also tried the 2.12.9 version from gtk-win.sourceforge.net, it has the 
invalid argument problem. Seems the issue may only be with the 2.12 
builds of gtk from http://gtk-win.sourceforge.net
