I also believe that adding Enchant to the mix is a bit too much work to get
too little reward. GtkSpell v3 would easily fix that problem but
unfortunately I don't believe it's going to be released anytime soon.

After looking into the issue I noticed that there was already a bug report
asking for this feature. The bug report is available at:

I've posted the patch (same patch with a small tweak) but I didn't add any
reference to this discussion, as it is currently a bit minimalistic.
