I was just looking at this a little more, and that does seem to be what 
happened - I went in before changing to a dark theme and set character 
encoding or a posting profile, and the colour got updated as well.

Might be good if there was either an option to only save the preferences 
that have been modified in a group, or to select "use default" for the 
colouring.
