Okay, here is some output from trying to run Pan 2 in FreeBSD Unix KDE5.  Weird that it'd immediately halt (not even open) Pan for these reasons, as of course, I don't want audio volume in Pan.  On Slackware GNU/Linux I get a different crash... on TWM, CDE, KDE4, XFCE, MATE, I get mostly different crashes/halts/non-starts (can't show those right now)... I can run Pan for a few minutes in a few, then it crashes... I even deleted my /home/user/.pan2 (kept .newsrc)... same (crashed.)  I recall reading GTK has lists of approved programs, and unless they're in some list, themes will crash them... I'm pretty attached to what themes I used, but I also tried every theme I had at the time (in some of these window managers & desktop environments.)  Took me a while to reply because I hadn't subscribed on listserv (just reading archive... caught up now) but I guess I will for a while... hope the current programmers got my donation.
